how are you doing? Just thought I'd take a look at Hostboard again after a couple of years away. Just wanted to see what it was like on what at one time was my favorite Indians forum. We had a pretty good thing going here for awhile and the forum seemed to be growing and then suddenly it all went downhill very soon after the day you banned me. Anyway, I hope all is well with you. I just wanted to take the time to say hello to an old friend. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Just a quick question Alex. Remember the poster who went by the screen name Bye! He posted on the PD forum as well as here.

He was a really nice guy and a really good poster and then he just disappeared.

I wonder whatever happened to that guy?

Not sure that's entirely accurate.

I know that this the forum was down for 5 weeks and then down again for an extended period of time and that a few people lost interest because of all the down time.

Because of forums like this and fanhome, Cleveland live went to name registration, which helped "legitimize themselves" and people who had swore off ever posting on Cleveland live began posting again.

Fanhome doesn't allow link information, even on a members profile page. Whereas here one can post link information. Sometimes nice guys finish behind. So be it.

You shouldn't put your ego above the content of what you post. If you have something to contribute, just contribute it.

I thought Kaiser was rather unique and pretty funny.

What is interesting is that on the PD forum you once in awhile see some of the long time posters ask about other posters who have stopped posting.

I know myself that I have threatened to stop posting there on several occasions but always find my way back there.

I know one day I will eventually get the PD forum out of my system.

I enjoy exchanging e-mails with friends I have met on forums more than I do posting.

It really is too bad that this forum hit a wall because as I said at one time I enjoyed it very much.

I think first and foremost I am interested in baseball in general and my hometown team also.

If others feel the same way, they post here. If there is some other agenda they have, they stop posting when they realize my agenda is quite straight forward.

I rarely contact those whom I have met here, but that doesn't mean I don't look forward to exchanging ideas and opinions here on the forum. Sometimes I sense without the off forum communication many aren't interested in posting.

You are right Roto it was a pretty good forum.

Alex won't admit it but he had a lot to do with it's demise and banning me for even a single day was not a good idea.

Just for kicks I did a Google search using the name Alex and Hostboard. This topic was the first to appear.

How bizarre. But since it came up, let me just say that Swanny insulted me on the PD forum and then acted like it was no big thing. To this day Swanny will minimize the insulting comment made on the other forum then maximize the fact they were banned for a day. What an ego.

Krank made an insulting comment and then when I replied in kind never posted again. It's this type of egomania that just seems to thrive on most of the active forums. Mix one part multiple posting personalities, with one part small cliques of friends that automatically react to the name of the poster than the content, and that's makes most forums go round.

Sadly, people on most forums seem to put their own personalities over just enjoying their team, complimenting their team when they do well, and noticing the nuances of the game.

A recipe of personal humility and respect to the game that many forum regulars simply cannot follow are the kind of members I wish would post, but they're too busy leading normal lives to bother with any of the forums.

As for Swanny's claim, it is laughable. Either post an intelligent thought or shut up, in that instance, we know where Swanny stands, or squats. The level of ulterior motivism that existed on this forum in the past was so pathetic that somebody actually started giving as many of the members as low of a rating as they could. I'm sure some of the members thought it was me doing it when it was not, sort of like shiXXing in someone else's sandbox. If you have an intelligent view or observation, just post it, or don't.
